Local Entrepreneur, Meg Carlson, Elected President of Kickstand

BOISE, ID - Kickstand, a non-profit networking and education organization for Idaho’s entrepreneurs, announced today that it has elected local entrepreneur and business intermediary, Meg Carlson, as president for a one year term. Carlson comes to the top spot from her position on the board of directors in charge of the Idaho Capital Network.

“Meg is such a fixture in the local business community,” said Jefferson Jewell, Co-Founder of Blackfin Technology and outgoing president. “She brings a tremendous background, great experience, and a keen sense of Kickstand’s mission and potential. Meg’s leadership will definitely contribute to Kickstand’s continued growth and success.”

Carlson was a former Vice President at Ore-Ida Foods, Inc., a division of H.J. Heinz, and Chief Operating Officer for Duckets, an online marketing company based in Boise. Carlson co-founded The C&H Group in 2002 together with Korri Hall. The C&H Group is local business intermediary firm that provides transaction and strategic advisory services to mid-market business owners in order to buy, sell, and value businesses. Carlson also serves on the board of directors for Western Electronics, the National Association of Women Business Owners, and the Boise Downtown Rotary Club as well as the 2004 Chair of the Intermountain Venture Forum Selection Committee.

“Kickstand is the epicenter of entrepreneurial activity in the Treasure Valley,” said Carlson. “It has paved the way for many ventures to successfully launch with the support of the community. I look forward to continuing this vital support for entrepreneurs that has been nurtured by Jefferson and other founders of Kickstand.”

Kickstand is just coming off a highly successful event called Kickstart, the Northwest’s Premier Entrepreneur Event, which is the educational arm of Kickstand. Kickstart was an effort by the Kickstand organization to bring together the business, education and government communities in one place to inform, educate and inspire Idaho's current and future entrepreneurs to move down the path of success. Other Kickstand efforts include its signature monthly networking meetings, an informal opportunity to mingle with like-minded souls and listen to intriguing speakers, the Idaho Capital Network, an effort to bring together all of Idaho’s funding sources into one place for the benefit of entrepreneurs, and other periodic networking and educational events.

The cost to join Kickstand is only $20 per year and includes drinks and hors d’ouvers at monthly networking events. To join Kickstand, simply visit www.kickstand.org and sign up electronically.
