Boise, Idaho – Meg Carlson, co-founder and principal of The C&H Group was invited to moderate a roundtable discussion featuring a panel of Idaho women business leaders on March 7, 2007.  Attendees included influential leaders from a variety of industries inside the community who offered their insights and suggestions for the Idaho business community on trends, challenges and opportunities that Idaho industries are facing.  This forum specifically addressed “Women in Business” and provided perceptions about the growth of entrepreneurship among women in Idaho as well as the current business climates that impact opportunities for women in business.  The complete feature will be included in the April edition of IQ Idaho magazine.   

A main topic of discussion included how organizations are affected differently by women business leaders.  The panel agreed that experienced female managers recognize how their leadership styles can affect all aspects of an organization including the bottom line, interaction between employees, customers and clients.  To assert positive changes for their businesses, affective female leaders fight harder against the status quo and are more focused, persuasive and tenacious.

Carlson actively contributes to furthering the development of women business owners in the greater Boise Valley through her participation as the President of the Boise Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), a mentoring group for women business owners, on the board of Kickstand, an entrepreneurial support group, and Boise Rotary Club a worldwide service group for business leaders; is a member of the Boise Angel Fund, and serves on the Advisory Board of Highway 12 Ventures, an Idaho-based venture capital fund..

Industry Outlook presented by IQ Idaho is a new series of monthly roundtable discussions sponsored and hosted by Stoel Rives.  Each month, some of Idaho’s leading business leaders will meet to discuss specific industries, trends, challenges and opportunities that their industries are facing.  The discussions will be formulated into features and presented in monthly editions of the IQ Idaho magazine.
